[edit] Enter Into Bootloader

There are 3 types of boot mode of the bootloader:

  • 1) Service boot: hold 'back' and press 'power' (red) button

In this mode phone waits until PDAFlasher starts downloading of firmware image through USB

  • 2) Developer boot: hold 'home' and press 'power' (red) button

In this mode phone shows menu in PDAFlasher's console:

  • U) Download image through USB.
  • E) Download image through Ethernet.
  • L) Launch existing flash resident image.

i.e. you can download firmware either through USB or through external ethernet card (possibly connected to testpoint pins on a mainboard)

  • 3) Diagnostic monitor boot: hold '5' and press 'power' (red) button

Most advanced boot mode:). In this mode phone shows menu in PDAFlasher's console:

  • U) Download image through USB.
  • E) Download image through Ethernet.
  • L) Launch existing flash resident image.
  • D) DIAGNOSTIC MONITOR

the last item (DIAGNOSTIC MONITOR) shows menu:

  • [1] CHANGE DEBUG_BAUD_RATE = 115200
  • [2] CHANGE DEBUG_BAUD_RATE = 38400
  • [R] DumpROM
  • [Q] Quit

Item '[R] DumpROM' dumps some data (rom?) to PDAFlasher's console. Useless thing (imho).

[edit] PDAFlasher

PDAFlasher is a Samsung's tool used for flashing PDA part (unlike GSM part, flashing with OptiFlash tool) of your and some other Samsung phones (like D720, D730, I320). To use this program with I300 you must have version 1.1 or 1.2 of PDAFlasher. To install program in developer mode (work with console, etc..) you must to enter password '1045' through installation process.


[edit] Hard Reset

To hard reset your device hold '0' and press 'power' (red) button. Then enter boot (IPSM) password (1234). All phone data returns to its original state.
